The Communion of the Mystic Rose

Founded in 2014, The Communion of the Mystic Rose (CMR) is a 501 (c)(3) religious non-profit that has been supporting devoted spiritual seekers for over a decade in accessing true contemplation and integrating the ancient wisdom of theurgy (sometimes called 'Western tantra') and the Alexandrian legacy of Graeco-Egyptian philosophy and mysticism. This ancient inheritance is lived out by community members in the context of a poetic, animistic, and unitary (i.e., non-dual) worldview. CMR functions as a communal hearth fire for serious spiritual seekers who desire to be rooted in the deep wellspring of Neoplatonic theology and the Western Mysteries. It is a vessel for cultivating and sharing the gifts of the 'Golden Thread' of ancient Western mysticism and the fruits of contemplative awareness. CMR is both a localized and a dispersed community, currently based in Sonoma County, California, which offers seasonal ritual gatherings, public teachings, and occasional fireside conversations.

Formal membership and training in CMR is by invitation only, and usually involves a long discernment process, but we are working intentionally on making connection with the community more accessible. Participation in retreats, one-on-one spiritual direction with Fr. Brendan, as well as The Divine Wisdom Hedge School and Hearth of the Wild Mystery School are excellent ways to get to know the sacred work and the community of CMR, and to begin a natural process of connection and companionship.
