The Communion of the Mystic Rose

Founded in 2014, The Communion of the Mystic Rose (CMR) is a 501 (c)(3) religious non-profit that has been supporting devoted spiritual seekers for more than twelve years in accessing true contemplation and integrating ancient wisdom: particularly the spiritual inheritance of native Gaelic animism, mystical theology, and contemplation, supported by the Alexandrian (Graeco-Egyptian) legacy of philosophy and mysticism, and in close dialogue with the non-dual yogas of Indo-Tibetan tantric Buddhism. This ancient inheritance is lived out by community members in the context of a poetic, animistic, and unitary worldview. CMR is a sangha in the deepest sense. It functions as a school of learning and formation, a mystical fellowship, and a communal hearth for serious spiritual seekers who desire to be rooted in the life-giving well of true contemplation and conscious interbeing. It is a vessel for cultivating, living, and sharing the profound gifts of the perennial contemplative witness, the 'Golden Thread' of ancient Western mysticism, the fruits of contemplation, and the redemptive, life-giving beauty of ancient ancestral lifeways.

 

CMR is both a localized and a dispersed community, currently based in Sonoma County, California.

 

Formal membership and training in CMR is by invitation only, and usually involves a long discernment process. Participation in public retreats and workshops, one-on-one spiritual direction with Fr. Brendan (our founder and spiritual director), as well as The Divine Wisdom Hedge School are excellent ways to get to know the sacred work and community of CMR, and to begin a natural process of connection and companionship.
